Lake Louise in Banff National Park is abundant with activities and opportunities for breathtaking sightseeing. The following giude offers some suggestions for ativities during and after the conference.
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Hiking and Scrambling
There are limitless opportunities for hikes and scrambles for adventure seekers of all skill levels. Right from the hotel you can hike to the Lake Agnes Tea House. About 20 minutes away on Highway 1A Johnston Canyon offers a relatively easy hike through a canyon to a beautiful 30m waterfall. If you have a full day you may wish to travel West (about 45 minutes) to Yoho National park and climb to the Twin Falls. There are literally hundreds of trails to choose from in Banff and surrounding areas. Numerous books and web sites are available as a reference. Be sure to check local conditions and be prepared to safely hike in the wilderness.
Mountain Biking
Mountain bike rentals are available in Banff, Lake Louise, Canmore and Golden. The area has trails for riders of all abilities.
Town of Banff
A world-class travel destination the Town of Banff has excellent restaurants, shops and attractions. Check out the beautiful Banff Springs Hotel or the nearby Bow Falls. You can take a gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain or enjoy a dip in the Banff Hot Springs at the base of it. Rent a canoe or kayak and paddle in the bow river. Lake Minnewanka just outside of the Town of Banff offers boat tours. Spectacular hikes and sightseeing are easily accessible from the town. Further ideas can be found here.
Whitewater Rafting
Travel through Level I - IV rapids down the spectacular Kicking Horse River in Golden, BC. Numerous service providers in the area provide guided full-day tours.
Golfing
Numerous golf courses are available in Banff and Canmore including the Banff Springs Golf Course, the Canmore Golf and Curling Club, Silvertip, Stewart Creek. The Kananskis Golf Course, about 45 minutes West of Calgary has two beautiful courses, though you will want to book your tee time months in advance.
Columbia Icefields
Travel the Icefields Parkway to the Columbia Icefields. Tours of the Icefields are offered in giant ice explorers.
