Opening Plenary: EMS to Health

Patient Safety in EMS
Speakers: Paula Beard, Blair Bigham, Bruce Farr
EMSCC and the Calgary EMS Foundation partnered with the Canadian Patient Safety Institute to fund research exploring patient safety in EMS. A report, Patient Safety in Emergency Medical Services: Advancing and Aligning the Culture of Patient Safety in EMS, has been published based on these findings and will be officially launched during the conference.
Panel Discussion: Providing Excellent Patient Care Through Four Delivery Models
Speakers: Joe Penner, John Sinclair, Scott Bourn, Gary Wingrove
You are the CEO of a large city with a significant rural response component. You have been tasked to find the most appropriate model for providing Emergency Medical Services to your area. Through your review you found that Emergency Medical Services provides patient care through four distinct models; municipal, fire, private and integrated in health. In order to make your decision you have asked experts from those four models to attend a panel discussion to describe the benefits of their system and how they have been successful in providing excellent patient care.
